Describe:
Describe your piece. How would you describe it to someone who couldn’t see it?
I made both a mask and a shirt out of materials found at home; materials such as a tablecloth runner, an old black shirt, and fabric. I sewed and cut the tablecloth onto the shirt, I also sewed and cut the mask. I used an actual doctor mask to use as reference when cutting out fabric to make my mask. I cut hearts out from Valentine's decorations and used them as ear cuffs for the mask, I also sewed the same heart onto the shirt to match. The shirt fits well, along with the mask, they both are made out of cotton materials.
Analyse:
Is the piece cohesive? Does it go together? Is it well balanced visually?
I added the same hearts to both the mask and the shirt to make the set go together. I wanted to make sure that my project had some sort of correlation. I used enough red in both pieces to not become overwhelming. I didn't want one piece to completely dominate the other piece, thus being the reasoning why I added material that is visually appealing in it's own way in both pieces.
Interpret:
What is the overall mood or feeling from your piece?
I aimed for strong staple pieces when correlating an outfit. With the mask being glam-like and the shirt adding the perfect amount of sass, both of my pieces give off a Valentine's Day vibe. When wearing my pieces, the red makes everything feel powerful.
Judge:
Do you feel your piece was successful? Why or why not?
I could've done a better job with sewing and measuring, but overall, I feel as though both of my art pieces were successful. I can very easily wear both and put them on without anything falling apart or breaking.
