Question #1:
How do you describe your artistic style/perspective? How do you define success as an artist? What do you find most rewarding about being an artist? What are some of the most important skills you draw upon to create your work? What are some of the most significant things you've learned through art-making?
Answer:
My artistic style/perspective revolves around retro-futuristic, I love to use patterns to create art. I find that my art revolves around something that is made through my imagination. When forced to create artwork, I tend to create sloppy and destructive pieces, when I work on my own however, I create some of the best artwork I've ever seen. Success is shown when you make something unexpected and realize your potential. Comparing yourself to other artists and other artwork will only do you more harm than good. After putting my blood, sweat, and tears into my final art piece and realizing how elaborate it turned out is what is most rewarding as an artist. Some of the most important skills that I've done and followed ever since I started making art was going with the flow and doing things at my own pace. When I'm rushed or have a time limit to complete artwork, I don't show my full potential and slack off. Important skills such as texture, shading, and color help define and express my art. Through art-making, I've learned to not beat myself up over the smallest mistakes and instead make something out of them. Making mistakes is all part of the art journey and it takes a lot of getting used to. Making mistakes in your work can open your mind up to something you didn't even realize you were capable of. Artists don't copy other artists, artists make do with what they have and express their emotional, mental, and physical features through their work.
