Written Section:-DESCRIBE
Describe your piece as if you were on the phone with someone. Explain what it is. This art project/technique is called Linocut. The main objective is to carve out an image you drew, roll paint, then apply the paint onto the linocut block. You then transfer your image onto a piece of paper. If you'd like to add another image or color, you cut away at the already cut block then paint over with you new, desired color! -ANALYZE How did you use line and contrast in your piece? I used many different shapes and lines to create a piece that pulls together. I used different thickness, sizes, and curve of lines. -INTERPRET Why do you feel the subject and what you made represents the theme? Does the printmaking process help show this? The theme for this project was collection. My final piece represents collection because of the collections of both lines, shapes, and collection of butterflies. The printmaking process shows the collection of what it is and how it is made up of. -JUDGE How do you feel about your piece? Do you feel your piece is successful? Why or why not? It's been many years since I've done any Linocut work. My piece, though sloppy, turned out better than I expected. I was very hesitant about this project because I was worried about messing up somewhere along the lines. To me, my piece is turned out to be successful, in both design and mentality. |
